Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold a name that has become synonymous with betrayal. However, this wasn’t always the case. At one time he was General (and future first President) George Washington’s trusted advisor in the struggle against the British. What caused this turncoat to turn his revolutionary ambitions inside out to match the crimson of the British? What brought on one of the most famous treacheries in history?

Inside you will read about...

✓ A Revolutionary in His Own Right ✓ On The Eve of Revolution ✓ The War Rages ✓ Independence Day ✓ Marriage of Destiny ✓ America’s Wayward Son And much more! It has long been perceived as a historical enigma, but in this book we are going to tackle it. Read further to learn what turned a man who could have potentially been one of the greatest military heroes of American history - and perhaps even a future President himself - switch course and betray his country in such a devastating way. Read on to learn the true story about Benedict Arnold.

Benedict Arnold A Life From Beginning to End Hourly History Books

I like mini-e-books such as Benedict Arnold: A Life From Beginning to End because of the brief and concise manner that they discussed a specific historical topic. I remember learning as a school kid that Benedict Arnold was a traitor during the Revolutionary War. I was never interested enough to learn more about Benedict Arnold before reading this book. The e-book indicates that he was a pretty good general for both the Americans and later the British. He was wounded twice for the American cause so why did he turn traitor? It seems like that his marriage to Peggy Shippen and his corruptness while running the Philadelphia government were the reasons for his turning traitor. The book did not describe how the British received him after the Revolutionary war ended. I realize that the objective of this book is to highlight certain phases in the life of Benedict Arnold. I know that if I want more information on this character I have to do further research. I like this book.

Benedict Arnold A Life From Beginning to End Hourly History Books Reviews

Greed and ego took a valued military hero and General Washington's trusted general to give up his career and betray his country. Thank you Hourly History for another good read.
Paperwhite version is well edited with working links. The book is a short overview written for eighth graders, providing a superficial understanding of the man and his background, and leaving out essential details that would not have added much to the reading time. The edition was free, but still thought I preferred reading something else during the hour it took to complete.
This is a short biography that can be read in less than an hour. Because of its short length, it couldn't cover a lot of details, but it was a good overview of Benedict Arnold's life. I enjoy reading short profiles like this to learn more about historical figures that I find interesting but not interesting enough to want to read a full-length biography.
I've always heard of this man whose name is synonymous with traitor, but knew little about him. This short book provides a good overview of his life and possible reasons for his turning against the country of his birth, the country he fought valiantly for to begin with. But in the end, it seemed he was more interested in himself and his own profit than any one or anything else.
A quick but comprehensive history lesson on a man who served on both sides of the American Revolutionary War.
I enjoyed reading the early history of this man and how his character, honed as it was in rule breaking experiences, led to his downfall.
Realizing that his wife ultimately led him to betray his country, reminded me of a similar wife-induced turncoat whose account is recorded in Genesis 3.
This is the second in the Hourly History series that I have read with much appreciation.
Very good short sketch of the man who is more sympathetic than I though he would be. But he was a man of real ability but not enough real character. I am a great fan of these Hourly Histories and some of the other short history series is publishing these days. Most are three star or better but they give you what you need to know and see how people and events fit into their historical times. I think it is difficult to rate these books above 4 stars because of their brevity, but there are quite a few that reach 4 starts and the 3 star books are worth reading if you want to be well read but don't have enough time to read long books or lots of books. Moral of Arnolds story is that mid way through our Revolutionary war, this guy was our biggest hero. As Washington proves, you need to be a hero the whole way or you may not be a hero at all.
Now I know more clearly why we call traitors "Benedict Arnolds". This is a well written brief biography of a prominent figure in early American history. The highlights of his life were hit upon, including motivation for the things he did. I can't wait to see how a much longer biography I have fills in even more blanks. A good introduction into Arnold 's life.
