In this reflective, erotic and funny novel, John McKenzie delves into what drives boxers to keep getting back into the ring, the practicalities of desire, and the economics of flat tenancy in the years just before Maggie Thatcher took over.
It's really a semi-autobiographical account of writing, boxing and fornicating, owing something to Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Bukowski, and Henry Miller.
If you like this book, you will probably like The Buddha and the Big Bad Wolf and TheBlissBook which are written in the same style, but with no sex!!

I couldn't put it down, as they say. Actually I had to put it down, but only to eat. I continued reading on the bus to work, laughing aloud. I hope nobody was reading the graphic parts over my shoulder.A hugely enjoyable book by someone who knows how to write. Honest and depraved. Who would have thought a postmodern novel could be so much fun!
