With a little mystery and a little romance, WANTED AN HONEST MAN captures the bittersweet growth of a young woman trying to make sense of her turbulent life. Lindsey, a beautiful, talented teacher is a fighter and a positive thinker, but after the man of her dreams betrays her, then steals her beloved dog, she struggles. Strange, threatening phone calls begin to haunt her. A stalker, perhaps?

Though she doesn’t want to be alone, she isn’t ready to go looking for new love, but men find her anyway. A handsome college student involved in some tricky human research gets into trouble in more ways than one. His inherent propensity to play detective, though helpful at times, seems to attract Murphy and his darned Law far too often … and now his eyes are on Lindsey. Will his heart follow?

“Charming … unexpected … emotionally charged!”
--- Amylynn Bright, author of Finish What We Started

“Ms. Rohman’s entertaining novel, WANTED AN HONEST MAN, has all the hallmarks of a bestseller including a cast of inspired characters that bring real world authenticity to her tale.” --- BookViral

Wanted An Honest Man The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1 eBook Cricket Rohman

I really tried to read this book, and even read beyond the point at which I wanted to throw things, but it was just too awful to get beyond the first section. The pace is slower than molasses. The prose are filled with seemingly inconsequential minutiae. The plot seems to be absent, and the characters are shallow and undeveloped.

At 20% into the novel the only thing that has happened is the husband is caught in adultery, leaves his wife for a 20 yr-old stripper, and the wife, Lindsey, just feels sorry for herself. Lindsey, aka the main character, is absolutely not sympathetic. She's enraging in her weakness. One expects a woman whose husband has left her for another woman would be depressed and feeling sorry for herself. That bit isn't surprising. What is surprising is that when he takes the dog, she gets angry and *then* falls back into the pit of self-pity and inaction. There's a brief glimmer of hope that she's going to take him to court and sue the pants off of him because of how he's treated her, but then...nothing...nothing but an unimportant principal observation day and new lyrics for the 12 Days of Christmas song. She has a best friend who doesn't even *mention* the word divorce, who doesn't suggest that she get mad and get even, who doesn't suggest that she forget the lying, cheating scumbag and stop waiting for him to come back because she's worth more than that. What kind of friend is that???

Then we find out a bit more about Lindsey's childhood in foster care, and then things definitely don't make sense. Having had no personal experience with foster care, only the stories of friends and what's on the news, I understand that it makes you cynical and jaded early on. That the insecurity makes you learn not to trust people. So Lindsey's actions become even more incongruous with her character. All of this makes for a boring and confusing story that I absolutely had no desire to keep reading. Usually, if a book lacks a plot, but has compelling characters, I'll keep reading. But when both the plot AND the characters are lacking, what's the point? It certainly isn't going to improve; so I'm not going to waste my time to find out if she grows a backbone or if someone finally gives her some good advice. I'm done. Thankfully, this was a freebie.

Wanted An Honest Man The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1 eBook Cricket Rohman Reviews

This book was a surprise from start to finish. Just when I thought it was on track, another twist kept me turning the pages. Good one.
I enjoyed following along as Lindsey finds herself and finally Jake. A great romantic read by the fireplace. I don't typically read this type of genre, but I really liked this book.
The storyline was fine but often it was difficult to hold my interest. The author is sincerely wished much success in her future writings.
I only give a book five stars when it completely captivates me. This caught me on so many levels, and I could not put it down. I enjoyed the details about teaching kindergartners, the lively characters, and loved Wendell the dog. The slow build to the life changing relationships was effective. And the real test, although I found this as an freebie, I bought the next two books in the series. They are so well written, I just had to support this author.
A friend suggested I read this even though it wasn't my kind of book. However, from the beginning, Wanted An Honest Man was a page-turner for me. It was so much more than a typical, formula-driven romance novel. The story's ensemble cast of characters centered around a turbulent year in the life of a teacher. The story had plenty of action as well as a little mystery and some shocking plot twists.Overall, a very promising, easy read. Looking forward to this author's next book.
I just can not tolerate characters who are supposed to have a modicum of intelligence doing stupid things. This happened over and over throughout the book.
Wanted An Honest Man (The Lindsey Lark Series Book 1) by Cricket Rohman is the first book I have read from this author. The first book in three. The first thing that intrigued me about reading this book was the fact that the characters live in Arizona. Yeah same place that I do. I will say the author was right on spot with all her Arizona references which makes me really happy. I also love this genre, Women’s Fiction, Romance, Contemporary and some action and adventures. There are lots of twists to keep your mind thinking of what is going to happen next.
I also enjoyed reading the story, Lindsay is a kindergarten teacher, she is sweet and smart when it comes to being a teacher. But her personal life is not going well. She is married to Anthony and well he leaves her for Shawna, a young stripper. Oh and by the way he is a doctor. She also has her best friend Laurie who is also a teacher with her at school. They grew up together in foster care. Lindsay seems like the perfect teacher, and that she really enjoys teaching her students. I really felt the author did a fantastic job with Lindsay’s character. She is very likeable and maybe a little gullible but we can all grow and she is young. Oh and there is the young cute Chinese food take out driver. Jake, what a great character, I wont tell you to much about him but I like him. All the characters are interesting and make the story.
I really loved the book right from the start, the plot moved along at a perfect speed, the story was never dull and I couldn’t wait to read the whole book. The adventures of Lindsay were fun. The very last adventure I felt was a surprise, I know I would never do that. I can’t tell you what it is, you will have to read the book. I enjoyed the writing style and felt the author did a great job. I felt the twist in the story were fun and some unexpected. For me the book was nice and fast paced. I can’t wait to read the 2nd book in the series.
For the most part this is a clean romantic book. But there was sex, not really descriptive and some swear words. There were some issues with a few of the children and I loved how Lindsay handled that. I mean being a teacher you have a lot to deal with. This book was fun and seem so real life. I give it 5 stars for being really good, entertaining me and making me want to read the next book.
